A few years have passed since the last similar event of this
magnitude - the Grand Indian Celebrities Wedding of Abhishek Bachchan and
Aishwarya Rai. It seems not much has changed in terms of the grand attention
the couple – Ram Charan Teja (Son of Chiranjeevi, Actor & Politician) and
Upasana (Grand Daughter of Dr. Pratap C Reddy, Chairman and Co-founder of
Apollo Hospital) this time their marriage has become sensational news.
The wedding has been in the spotlight most of this week in the news - the only difference from 2007 is being the tremendous impact on social media. Now there are cartoon Facebook pages, wedding Twitter feeds and more to keep the news hungry.

Misuse of
Media:
While places like Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka & Tamil Nadu
are going a little crazy trying to exploit on this wedding by flooding the
market with replica of wedding rings, mementos, t-shirts and even quite
successfully achieved. It does beg the questions whether this excitement is
justified, whether such events still should have a place in our Indian media, when
we are in bad state of facing economic issues.
Judging by the coverage on the CNN and other traditional media, most of the financial experts are against it. Most of the celebrities across India were welcomed to this marriage and this distracts from the confusion going on all over the India at the moment - whether it's a petrol hike, president competition or depreciating of Indian money. This wedding does bring a sense of positivity and hope for viewers - much needed, one could argue, this year especially.
From a commercial point of view, certainly there are benefits too. Spending on everything from restaurant specials and romantic holiday offers to the actual purchase and sticky memento items relating to the wedding. The romance of it all - a fairy tale in making is quite a attractive incentive to keep many women stuck to their screens.

On the negatives, however, the argument is that the entire event constitutes a waste of money. This too, at a time when many feel that money is wasting on useless things. It was indeed a honorable sign for the couple to suggest that nobody send them wedding gifts but instead donate money to a worthy charity. I just wonder how many starving children are there in this country, how many children are looking for quality education, easily they could have aided the poor society but instead they had lavish marriage which was not useful anybody and created just hype.
The bigger issue of course and one that will no doubt be of importance in coming week is the actual relevance in Chiranjeevi’s wealth. According to some news reports, groom Ram Charan has received more than 500crores of wealth as a gift from his father-in-law. Other issues surrounding the wedding from a negative standpoint is unnecessary disruptions. Local government establishments have received road closure requests for street parties, which created lot of irritation to a common man.
Expecting Response
from Chiranjeevi:
Personally, I feel this marriage has happened just for money, but not for affection or relationship. They spent lot of money on lot of things but legend Chiranjeevi, as a social worker I couldn’t see he doing any social work to the society.

If he is so honest to the humanity, then now questions may
arise like this…
What happened to his Praja Rajyam Party and his followers?
What happened to his promises to the nation?
Is it ethical to take 500crores gift from girl’s family?
Only he can answer for these questions.
